Internet
INTERNET: Widely available in most areas with established businesses and a tourist population. Prices range from B1-5/minute (dial-up to high-speed/DSL) and higher, depending on location (considerably higher on remote islands). Cable LAN or wireless internet is common in Bangkok however, in other areas dial-up connections are still the standard.
Thailand has started to energetically embrace Internet in its many forms across the marketplace. Over the last five years, admittedly starting from a very low base, the estimated number of Internet users in Thailand has increased six fold. ISPs also seem to be recovering from their earlier reputation for unreliable performance. Now that the government taken the first steps to fix the regulatory regime, with the CAT being sidelined from the activities of the ISPs, there should be more opportunity for the Internet business in Thailand to grow.
