Tuk Tuks

A taxi-style mode of transport that’s unique to Thailand. The three-wheeled, open-air tuk-tuk can take you almost anywhere in Bangkok. Rate is usually negotiated, from Bt20 for a very short distance to about Bt100 for a farther destination. Popular with tourists in Bangkok, where they navigate traffic jams with greater dexterity than cars, haul oversized items and show-off wheelie capabilities. Prices for long-haul trips make the ‘taxi meter’ a more comfortable (and safe) option. Upcountry they’re bigger, brighter and often the sole mode of private and public transport.
